Hello Rocklin Academy Families,

My name is Nicole Moraru and I am thrilled to be joining the 4th grade team at Gateway! This will be my tenth year teaching at Gateway but my first year teaching an upper elementary class. I grew up in Sacramento before attending UC Santa Cruz where I studied Anthropology as an undergraduate. Continuing on there, I received my Masters in Education and teaching credential in 2006.

I have been lucky to call several places “home” including Santa Cruz, Portland and now Rocklin. I have two amazing daughters that have attended Gateway since Kindergarten! We love seeing the Core Knowledge curriculum spiral throughout the years! Alana is in her first year at Whitney High School and Maisy is starting Middle School at Gateway.

As a teacher, I take great joy in watching my students learn and grow throughout the year. I strive to build a fun, safe and welcoming classroom environment in which students can reach their full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy getting sucked into a good book, yoga, and enjoying nature with my two dogs. Other hobbies include getting crafty, organizing and seeing live music concerts whenever I can. You might also catch me on the soccer fields year round as I cheer on my two girls!

I am looking forward to meeting my new students and working closely with parents, staff and my 4th grade cohorts. Here’s to an amazing school year!
