Brown, Vanessa » Hello!

Hello!

My name is Vanessa Brown and this is my first full year in room 312 at Rocklin Academy Gateway. Go Gators! I have been with RAFOS for over a year working as a substitute teacher on all campuses, completing my student teaching at RA Turnstone in 5th grade and wrapping up my Masters Degree in Elementary Education.

The fourth grade is an exciting transitional year as students prepare for more responsibility and independence in their education. I am looking forward to guiding them on this journey of growth and development.

I graduated from the University of Nevada Reno with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing and am at the tail end of my Masters Degree with Western Governors University.

This summer we moved into our dream home in Auburn with my husband, my son, our dog and cat - where we have a beautiful garden and chicken coop! I will be learning how to homestead in my free time and harvesting all of my own fruits/veggies. My son is starting Kindergarten here at Gateway and I am so excited for him to be on the same campus at me. Becoming a teacher has been a career change and finding my purpose has been such a rewarding experience. Teaching has always been on the list of potential careers, but motherhood helped me realize this is exactly where I am meant to be.

My classroom is a safe space for students to be themselves while also building a class of respect among a diverse group of peers. I enjoy finding fun and engaging ways for the class to interact and explore everything that 4th grade has to offer! I value and appreciate open communication between myself, students and their families as we move through the school year. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
