Bio

Hello and welcome! I am Michelle Bloom and this will be my third year teaching at Rocklin Academy Gateway.

I grew up in Meadow Vista, just up the hill from Rocklin. I obtained my undergraduate education at Arizona State University. I have a major in liberal studies and a minor in sustainability. I continued my educational journey at William Jessup University gaining a single subject teaching credential (science) and a Master of Arts in Teaching.

Prior to teaching here at Rocklin Academy Gateway I had two children attend the school, which was a large motivating factor in my decision to get my teaching credential. This allowed me to be a part of this school before it even opened it's doors to the public! I have always been a proud member of the Rocklin Academy family, but now having the experience from the teacher perspective is even more rewarding. I enjoy connecting with students and building relationships while preparing them for their journey to high school.

I teach 7th grade science, which integrates chemistry concepts with Earth science and helps students better understand the world around them on a large scale. I also teach 7/8 STEM exploration. This course is a student-driven, hands on exploration of almost 50 STEM careers. I absolutely love all areas of science and enjoy helping students to connect their learning with the world around them.

My husband and I have been married for 19 years; our son has headed to the University of Montana this year and our daughter is beginning high school at Western Sierra. In our spare time we enjoy being outside; hiking, canoeing, relaxing on the beach, or camping. We have enjoyed living here in Rocklin for 16 years now.

I look forward to a fantastic year and I cannot wait to learn and grow along with each of my students!
