Happy to introduce myself… I am Laura Snider; this will be my ninth year teaching adorable, smart, curious kindergarten students (YEAH) at the Gateway campus.
My family includes my husband, Mike, our three young adult kids (Hunter, Ali, and Jason), and one silly dog. In my spare time, you will most likely find me going on walks, exploring new trails, kayaking, and attending craft fairs, farmers markets and garage sales. I also enjoy going to the movies and I am a HUGE 49er fan!
Along with my teaching credential, I hold a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Child Development from CSUS, Sacramento.  In addition to my educational background, years of facilitating experience has helped prepare me for this teaching position, which includes working with children, families, and educators by way of substitute teaching, preschool teaching, and numerous volunteer opportunities (e.g. Head Start, Montessori, reading tutor, art docent, PTC board member, soccer coach, etc.).  These accumulated life experiences have shown me different perspectives that help strengthen my instructional choices and classroom management to better meet the needs and interests of my students and their families.
Emphasis on a well-organized classroom environment and respect/acknowledgment of students’ diverse learning styles will further enhance the Core Knowledge curriculum being provided. Further, I will rely on the support of my fellow team of teachers, cooperative parent volunteers and active student participants to help meet the Common Core State Standards and to make this a positive, rewarding, and memorable school year!
