Hi, I’m Nancy Chalfant.  I am excited to be entering my 10th year of teaching transitional kindergarten at Rocklin Academy Gateway.   I have also enjoyed teaching kindergarten, first grade and pre-kindergarten prior to joining the Rocklin Academy Gateway team.  In addition to classroom teaching, I have directed several early education programs in my 30 plus years as an educator.  I am honored to be a part of the Rocklin Academy Gateway staff.

I received my BA degree at Biola University and teaching credential at CSU Fullerton.  I have done graduate work at CSU Northridge and University of San Diego abroad.  I hold a child development program director permit, which opened opportunities for me to direct preschool programs at various sites through the years.  I am originally from Los Altos, in the Bay Area.  I spent ten years in southern California, and have now lived with my husband Jeff and three daughters in Roseville for 28 years.  I have been actively involved in my children’s education by volunteering at their school as a classroom helper, art docent, school site council member, PTA member and substitute teacher.

My husband Jeff also teaches elementary education in Roseville. I have three adult daughters and a son (in law). My youngest, Megan, is a nurse in Spokane Washington.  Katie, our middle, is working as a marketing coordinator in San Diego. Emily, our oldest, is a Physician Assistant in Placerville.   Emily and Tyler just celebrated their 5th year of marriage.  We are “empty nesters”, but enjoy the company of Jeff’s mom living with us and my mom living close by.  I enjoy going to the beach, gardening and finding quilt shops along the way.  I look forward to meeting all of you this year at Rocklin Academy Gateway.
